The study analyzed the titles of millions of jobs started by LinkedIn members between January 1st 2018, and July 31st 2022, to calculate a growth rate for each profession (excluding jobs that were not salaried full time or part time roles). The following is their list of the 20 jobs growing in demand in Canada over this four-year period, including top hiring regions and remote work availability:

Vacancies

Statistics Canada issued November’s job vacancy report (the most recent data available) saw the overall number of vacancies in all industries across Canada decrease by 20,700 jobs. Despite this, vacancies overall remain at historic highs, totalling 850,300 open positions at the end of 2022.

Particularly, the healthcare and social assistance, professional scientific and technical services, and construction sectors continue to experience persistent vacancies (despite increasing hiring efforts), with little to no reduction on a year-over-year basis. This indicates a productive hiring climate in these industries—especially for newcomers, who collectively contribute to nearly 100% of labour force growth—as Canada’s economy moves farther away from the depressive effects of the COVID pandemic.

Truck drivers are now eligible for Express Entry https://migrationlawcanada.com/2022/08/28/truck-drivers-are-now-eligible-for-express-entry/ Sun, 28 Aug 2022 13:33:37 +0000 https://canada-immigration-theme.virtuoso.services/?p=832 A shortage of truck drivers leads to an urgent scouting for drivers.

Canada is facing a very acute shortage of truck drivers affecting the logistics industry across Canada. There have been many factors propelling this shortage. The major factors include the high number of truck drivers who voluntarily retired during the COVID-19 pandemic, the high number of aging truck drivers who retired or are about to retire, the increase in delivery services as well as the drop in interest in people entering the sector. According to the 2021 Labour Market Snapshot of Trucking HR Canada, there were 18,000 vacant positions in the truck driving sector in Canada in the second quarter of 2021. The report says that in Canada, the trucking and logistics industry moves over $850 billion in products to domestic and export markets. Even before the onset of the global pandemic, the Forest Products Association of Canada estimated that the truck driver shortage was costing the industry approximately $450 million in lost productivity.

Truck driving is a very crucial factor in the Canadian supply chain and has a heavy impact on the national economy when there are disruptions and labor shortages.
